Market Applications

Application forms:

April 1st 2023

May 13th 2023

Square Lemon never juries vendors for the markets. Every vendor who applies has an equal chance to be accepted for the market.

Because we sometimes get a lot of applications, we are using a waitlist system to ensure all vendors have a chance to be at a market. How this works is:

  • We have more applicants than tables, so anyone who does not get into a market is put onto a waitlist.
  • If a vendor has to cancel, the next vendor on the waitlist is offered a place. And this continues until all the tables are filled and paid for.
  • If we have more people left on the waitlist once the market is full, we retain the information and these vendors get an advance chance to apply to the next available market.
  • These advance invitations are for a limited time, and once that time has elapsed, we open up the application form to all vendors publicly.
  • We keep all the date information from the application forms for the waiting list, and offers or early invitations are sent out in strict time/date order.

We also ask that vendors do alternate market dates, to give everyone a chance to be at a market. (Also, we are always looking for market volunteers, and we even offer a few perks!)

LOCATION: The Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Ave, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 2K2
As this market is intended for artists, makers, and crafters, we will not be accepting any direct sales, MLMs, or resellers.

Once your application is reviewed and you are successful, you will receive a confirmation email from helen@squarelemon.ca as well as an invoice for the table fee.

CHECK YOUR EMAILS FREQUENTLY AND MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER!!

MASK MANDATES: Masks are no longer mandatory, but are still a very good idea.

CHECKING IN: Vendors will check in at the community centre entrance to receive their table number. Spaces will be assigned to best accommodate flow and variety of products to provide the best experience for market attendees. If you have specific requirements please include this in your application and we will make every effort to accommodate you.

GLEBE COMMUNITY CENTRE: The event is held on the second floor, up a set of stairs. There is an accessible lift for those vendors who need it. Volunteers are also available to help bring your items in. Please ask a Lemon if you do not see any available volunteers.
WIFI is NOT available on site for use during the event. Bathrooms are available for vendors and attendees. Square Lemon will be providing free refreshments for vendors of tea and coffee. A refreshment area will be set up with a variety of snacks for purchase to vendors and customers.

VOLUNTEERS: We have an amazing team of volunteers! If you need help bringing your items into the hall, or back out of the hall, please ask a volunteer! They are available throughout the market to help, so please do ask them. Also, they are volunteers - we ask that you treat them with respect and kindness.

ACCESSIBILITY: Glebe Community Center is accessible including disabled parking spots, an elevator (to be used mainly for people with mobility restrictions) and accessible washrooms. If you require any assistance during the event feel free to ask a volunteer and we will try our best to accommodate your needs.

SET UP & TEAR DOWN: We will be open at 9:20AM to allow for vendor set up. Please do not arrive for setup before 9:20am. Vendors must be fully set up by 10:30AM, when the doors open to customers. No equipment will be available for moving your stuff so please bring your own dollies, etc. Vendors must have their area packed away and tidied by 4:00PM. We ask that you do not pack up before the end of the fair or until an announcement is made by organizers.

DISPLAYS: Vendors are to ensure that no display equipment (racks, stands, etc.) extends beyond their allocated area. Your display must not interfere with other makers/craftspersons or obstruct the aisles. No tacks, pins, or staples in the walls or tables. Vendors are responsible for their wares and are expected to have someone tending to their tables at all time. No sharing of tables unless you have booked the space in both names and have received prior approval.

TABLE CAPACITY: A maximum of 2 chairs will be allocated to each vendor table.

PARKING: After you have unloaded your items please park use the parking lot we have reserved for the market. Address and photos of this will be sent by email with the table allocation and market information in the week before the market.

CRAFT FAIR ADMISSION: There is no admission fee for this event. Attendees are invited to take part in a free short workshop being hosted in an adjacent room. Donations are welcome.

PHOTOS (optional but highly recommended):  Please provide three to five good quality photos of your product to info@squarelemon.ca (be sure to identify your business).  If you are accepted, we will use these photos to advertise your product on our social media platforms.

ADVERTISING: We want you to be successful at the fair and will be actively promoting the event. Some of the best advertising is on social media when as many people as possible are sharing the event and posts from our Facebook page. The more it’s talked about, the more they are seen! So share as much as possible, invite your friends to the event, and encourage them to share it also. Vendors will also be provided with a printable poster to distribute and share among their networks.
